Welcome to the web presence of Maitreya Ecovillage, a community of builders, gardeners, foodies, herbalists, activists, academics, musicians, artists, and just plain folks.

Maitreya got its start in the early 90s when the 1+ acre lot was bought as an investment property. Passions for sustainable building quickly led to rooms that needed to be filled! It was named Maitreya Ecovillage in 2002.

It’s an ecovillage because we try to support each other in living lives that respond to the ecological crisis. Often there are so many projects and ideas happening in one space, things can get a little wild at times!

We are filled with good-hearted folks seeking wellness and trying to have fun along the way. In sum, we’re really laid back, down to earth beings.
